For the People
Stu Umholtz has over 25 years experience in representing the People of the State of Illinois as a prosecutor and legal advisor.
He has served as Tazewell County State’s Attorney since 1995.
Family
Stu Umholtz and his wife, Valerie, celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2011 and have three children: Nicholas, Alexander & Anna.
Public Corruption
As the top prosecutor in his county, Stu Umholtz sets an example by prosecuting corrupt public officials. He has won multiple convictions, returning money to taxpayers, and applied the law fairly to everyone.
In the courtroom, protecting the public and getting justice
Stu Umholtz has fought for justice in the courtroom. He has successfully prosecuted violent criminals from murderers to sexual predators. Stu Umholtz has spent his career protecting and serving the public.
A leader, working for better lives
Stu Umholtz has worked with other community leaders to develop successful strategies to address hate crime, domestic violence, and child abuse. He’s led a successful fight against meth manufacturers and worked with police and schools to successfully keep gangs out of our community. Stu Umholtz knows that we need to address the root causes of crime and not just convict offenders.

Stu Umholtz has successfully prosecuted those that prey on the public by exploiting seniors, preying on children, and devising fraudulent charities. He understands the need to treat victims with dignity and understanding.
